Lucky Goldstar has sneakily added the LG Optimus 2 (AS680) to the smartphone portfolio on its official US site. What the heck, LG? Were you hoping no one would notice?
The LG Optimus 2 is, as the name suggests, the successor to the modest LG Optimus One, and not to be confused with the dual-core LG Optimus 2X.
As for the specs, the LG Optimus 2 has a “large 3.2in capacitive touch screen”. Presumably that’s around the same size as a small 3.2in capacitive display.
Other LG Optimus 2 specs include a 3.2MP camera with autofocus, 800MHz processor, 179MB of internal memory and a 1,500mAh battery.
There’s no sign of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) at this stage. Instead, Gingerbread (Android 2.3) will captain the ship initially, suggesting it’ll hit shelves pretty soonish. In fact, we’ll be very surprised if LG doesn’t show off the Optimus 2 at CES 2012 next week.
At the moment, the LG Optimus 2 doesn’t appear on the manufacturer’s UK site, but we’re fully expecting something similar – if not the very same phone – at Mobile World Congress in February. It’d only be fair.
