Not to be outdone by its South Korean and Californian rivals, LG is said to be developing a smartwatch of its own. The race is on, baby.
That’s the word according to The Korea Times, with credit going to an anonymous “source familiar with the matter”.
The source yells: “It is one major part of many currently non-commercialized products under development by LG Electronics. The company has spared no efforts to invest in products that it believes are must-haves to stay ahead technology wise in the market, whatever the situation maybe.”
Interestingly, LG is also said to be working on a product “similar to” Google Glass, the augmented reality silliness that pops stuff like directions and landmarks in your field of vision.
In typical Apple fashion, the Californians have yet to confirm or acknowledge the iWatch, though there are said to be 100 engineers working away on it.
As for Samsung, lovely lady Lee Young Hee confirmed: “We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them.”
In any case, there are several concerns over the viability of smartwatches, including price, battery life, and the ability to interact effectively with tiny screens using our giant western fingers.
But hey, people laughed at the iPad, and it went on to sell a few units.
