Is the light too dark on the menu button on my HTC Desire HD?

I recently acquired the glorious piece of kit known as the HTC Desire HD. I've noticed that thebacklight on the touch sensitive menu button seems to be darker than the rest of the buttons. Is this normal or is there a flaw somewhere?

It's on purpose. A design feature. like => :3 LOL
