Can a locked Android phone be reset without the code?

Can a locked Android phone be reset without the code? I've lost my Samsung Galaxy S! Think I know where it is, but just wondering if someone in theory could reset it to get past the code?

Yes. On many devices a hard reset to factory state will do that - such as described there => http://androidadvices.com/reset-android-increase-space-speed/#.UGrTARj77Zs

I'm not big into Android, and Google may have changed that in newer flavours of Android.
Regardless, a non lay-person should be able to do it anyways.
If you hold sensitive data on a mobile device NO security app, no password, no lockpattern or rabbit's foot is gonna protect you.
The only method that works it this: DO NOT let the phone out of your sight.

Any locked phone can be reset. There might not be a way to recover data, but reset is always possible.
Think how many people lock their phone and forget their code.
