How long before I can downgrade my O2 contract?

I'm on a 24-month contract with O2? Is it true that I can lower the monthly cost after a certain time?

Actually...
you can only downgrade your current tariff once it reaches 50% of the way through it.

So:
- 24m contract = 12m till downgrade eligibility.
- 18m contract = 9m till downgrade eligibility.
- 12m contract = 6m till downgrade eligibility.

After 9 months you are eligible for a downgrade, in case you think you're paying to much in relation to the minutes and texts you are using. Call O2 customer services if you want to downgrade (202 free from an O2 phone).
