Are LTE and 4G the same thing? Why not just call it 4G?!

Technically even LTE isn't 4G....but we'll leave that well alone...
It's specifically called LTE because in the US carriers were calling the inferior Wi-Max and HSDPA+ 42mbps 4G as well, so Verizon started calling their 4G LTE so people knew they were getting "true" (though not actually true because even LTE isn't actually 4G) 4G.
