Sick of hearing about the stupid Asus Nexus 7 tablet and the even stupider Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) update? As “Head Apple Fanboy”, I know I am.
But what’s this? An Apple-related story? Damn straight! We’re hearing that iTunes is expected to get a fairly massive overhaul later this year. In your face, Android. U suk LOLz 4eva.
The news comes via Bloomberg, which credits “people with direct knowledge of the matter… who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public.”
The anonymous figures reckon we should brace ourselves for “one of the largest changes to the world’s biggest music store since its 2003 debut”.
In particular, we’re told to expect sexier iTunes sharing options. Apple is said to be in negotiations with record companies to allow its users to send songs to friends for free.
Other features tipped for the new and massively improved iTunes include tighter integration with iCloud, and social networking stuff in the form of Facebook and Twitter.
All in all, sounds like iTunes will become a lot more like Spotify. Incidentally, music labels are said to be pushing Apple to launch a subscription service, but it’s thought unlikely.
