Mango will be Windows Phone 7.5

Mango will be Windows Phone 7.5The next Windows Phone 7 update, Mango, looks set to be a fairly major dealio. As such, there has been muchos speculation that the advances might even justify a little renumbering.

That speculation appears to have been right enough, as the Mango update is referred to as Windows Phone 7.5 on this tweet and this page on the Microsoft Partner Network.

Microsoft discussed Mango in quite a bit of detail earlier in the month. It’ll bring enhanced multitasking, and developer access to the motion sensor, effectively opening the door for all sorts of augmented reality-related goodness.

The Windows Phone App Marketplace will be available in 35 countries, which looks a damn sight more impressive than the current figure of 16. A host of big name apps will also join the WP7.5 party, including Amazon, Skype and Spotify.

Windows Phone 7 seems to be getting there, slowly but surely (with the emphasis on slowly).
