Mass production of the iPad mini underway?

Mass production of the iPad mini underway? We’re wondering if these iPad mini rumours will ever go away. I mean, if it isn’t launched this month, will the rumour mill simply propose November? Then December? Then January? Or maybe the iPad mini will come to fruition in a couple of weeks. Hmm.

In any case, we’re hearing that Apple’s Asian friends have started mass production of “a new tablet computer smaller than the current iPad”. Read: iPad mini.

That’s the story according to the Wall Street Journalists, who credit anonymous “people with knowledge of the situation”.

Two of those knowledgeable people reckon the iPad mini will have a 7.85in display. To be fair, my mum could probably tell you that it’s expected to have a 7.85in display, and she thinks the iPhone is a BlackBerry.

Rumoured iPad mini specs include a smaller, iPhone 5-style connector, flanked by speakers, and possibly front and rear cameras.

The recently launched Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7in is £159, while the iPad 2 sells for £329. iPad mini price is tipped to be somewhere between the two. We’re thinking £250 would do the trick.

Just yesterday, we were saying that iPad mini launch invites are expected to appear in inboxes on October 10 (a week today), with the launch taking place a week later. Stay tuned.

Somehow, I'm not the least bit interested.

Seems like they should be making more effort to make more i5 first..

I'm not interested either. With having a Note there seems no point in a ipad or any pad for that matter. My Note is good enough for when out and at home If I need a larger screen I'll use my PC.

That is a valid point, I reckon.
The 5+ inchers certainly make anything around the 7in mark a tad silly. Though, I would argue for some things a 9-10 inch tab beats a phablet - fun stuff like Garageband or photo editing.
But hey, a minute before the first iPad launched, pretty much nobody thought there was any interest in tablets.

True, however what about people like me who dont want to have a phone thats that big (4.2" screen max please) however want to have a slightly more portable tablet than the current ipad to lug around for when its needed, I think the mini iPad is ideal

£250 for a Ipad Mini? Nah i'm thinking £299 ...£250 actually makes the Mini sound like a good alternative to the Nexus 7.
