How many MB would I need for browsing, Facebook, email, and the odd app download?

C'mon, define "browsing"!!! You can browse google news with opera mini all day and get away with a MB or thereabouts.
Use a full flash capable browser, throw in heavy image and vid sites, and suddenly it's the sky where the limit is. Same with FB - are you uploading pics? Do your emails have attachments?
Start with a small add-on and try to find out what your routine is. Then decide.
(Other factor: how often are you near wifi hotspots etc etc )

some Apps can be small a couple of mb max (games are not a massive download)
if its just basic browsing 250mb should be enough videos would require more... i always think with internet more is better as phone calls are relatively cheap mb are very expensive...

i have seen loads of these adds for 100mb or that vodafone (free internet if you top up £10 you get 50mb on the weekend) knowing that 50mb is tiny and easy to go over meaning you end up spending alot of money by accident...

I think a lot of contracts now have a £1 a day limit on internet use above the allowance so its not the end of the world if you go over. I think 500 MBs is enough for all but power users and YouTubers. 250 MBs is more than enough if like me you prefer to use WiFi.
