Metal Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on the cards?

Metal Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on the cards? There’s no denying that the HTC One is one sexy aluminium-based beast, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 largely failing to impress in terms of its design. Indeed, there was plenty of moaning about plastic in the wake of the S4 launch.

As such, it mightn’t come as too much of a surprise to hear that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is tipped to go metallic.

That’s the word according to SamMobile, which gives credit to – brilliantly – its “famous insider”.

According to the insider, Samsung is quote unquote “worried” about the design and build quality of its devices, seemingly on account of the HTC One’s almost unanimously positive reception.

Interestingly, the source says there was a metallic Samsung Galaxy S4 prototype, one that proved hugely popular internally, but production constraints meant Samsung had to opt for plastic by default.

In addition to rocking some sort of metallic design, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will also supposedly have a 6in 1080p AMOLED display, Exynos 5 Octa processor and 13MP rear camera.

Incredibly, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is also expected to boast “even more software features than the Galaxy S4”. Good lord. Incidentally, last week, the former was tipped to debut Samsung Orb.

Tradition dictates that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch will go down at IFA in Berlin, which gets underway in early September.

I'm hoping not, there's always a big deal made about the plastics Samsung use but I prefer them because they're light, strong and durable whereas many of the metal look decidedly worn within a few weeks and also I don't like the sealed HTC design which has no microSD expansion and a sealed in battery. My Note is over 18 months old now and it doesn't look any different to the day I bought it whereas the Sensation I had briefly which was praised for its superior build quality over the plastic S2 after just a few weeks was looking like it was a few years old.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

A 5.8" (I'm kinda assuming that's how big the N3 will be) phone is going to weigh an absolute ton if it's made out of metal, that and who uses a Note not in a case anyway?
