We wrote a couple of days ago that Samsung is reportedly juggling several Galaxy S6 prototypes, including one with an edge display (similar to the Galaxy Note Edge), and another with dual edge displays.
Another possibility is a metal Samsung Galaxy S6, and we’re purportedly seeing such a thing here. Or the rear casing, at least.
Samsung has been rumoured to churn out a metal Galaxy S flagship for years, but has steadfastly stuck with durable old plastic.
Still, there’s definitely an appetite for a premium looking Samsung Galaxy S6, something akin to the critically – and publically – acclaimed HTC One M7 and One M8, and with sales of last year’s Galaxy S5 reportedly being disappointing, the timing couldn’t be better.
French site nowhereelse.fr prides itself on accurate leaks, and is generally pretty reliable, so our interest is well and truly piqued when it relays pictures of what we’re told is the Samsung Galaxy S6’s metal rear case.
Still, even if this is spot on, that’s not to say the metal Samsung Galaxy S6 will come to market. Samsung will likely consider a multitude of options, with most of them ultimately ditched.
Rumoured Samsung Galaxy S6 specs include a 5.2in QHD display (2560 x 1440), 16 or 20MP rear camera, and market-dependant Exynos or Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 is rumoured to make an appearance at CES 2015, but it’ll be for behind-the-scenes eyes only as opposed to a full public launch. We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground, in any case (pun intended).
