Microsoft are set to release Cortana for Android and iPhones as well as a Phone Companion app on Windows 10

Included the up coming release of Windows 10 will be the new 'Phone Companion' application. The idea behind this is to bring your mobile devices and PC together in a way we have not yet seen, making it easier to manage your phones content with little fuss or messing around.

The benefits of having all of your devices synced together via the Phone Companion application means that will be able to share documents, music playlists, photos as and Office documents across all of your devices by using just one app. One of the things i loved about Windows Phone was the way everything worked seamlessly from PC to mobile phone. Having the same experience on Android and iPhone handsets would certainly be a good thing, right?

Microsoft have also announced that their AI assistant Cortana will be built in to WIndows 10 at launch and will also be coming to both the iPhone and Android operating systems! Cortana on these mobile devices will effectively be slimmed down versions, meaning that voice commands, toggling settings and opening your applications will not be possible at launch. It is currently unclear if there will ever be plans to implement these features, although there are technical implications that would certainly make a fully featured Cortana difficult to integrate into other devices. If you already own a Windows Phone you will already be good to go upon the release of Windows 10.

The Cortana companion application will be heading for Android phones at the end of June 2015, while iPhone users will have to wait until the end of the year.
