Microsoft Surface RT on October 26?

Is the Microsoft Surface RT release date definitely October 26? Is it confirmed as a Windows 8 launch device?

I believe so. But not necessarily in all markets?! AFAIK, it won't be an iPad-esque mass launch... BUT who knows.

You can't preorder yet, but the launch date is the same as Windows 8 (Oct 26) for the RT model and early next year for the Pro model.

Also - none of my business, really, but we don't even have all the specs of the Surface tablets, yet. Why would you preorder at this stage?

Good point, mein Freund. You'd be mad to order a device with no official specs.

The only real spec missing is the processor, which we already know is a NVIDIA chip. Given the release date, it's going to be a Tegra 3 variant.

RAM is going to be 2 GBs. Why? From the MS Office Blog...

When you look at the specifications for Windows RT devices, you’ll find that most share some common characteristics:

Memory capabilities start at about 2GB

That's pretty much all the specs you need to know.

I assume it'll be missing Ethernet, too :(.

You know that expensive Samsung win 7 tab - I hate how it has the USB-port in the dock... How very portable LOL...

Thanks blizzard...
Wonder why I missed that?! :p

I missed it all, too. Maybe it's because I really don't care, Windows and MS is about as exciting to me as my washing machine or dishwasher.

hahaha yes, same here. You HAVE 2 use it now and again... and then it better work, but digital socks go missing :p

My PC is a tool, not a toy. As long as it works and I can type comfortably and quickly on it, I really don't care about MS's input to the whole process. I use W7 simply because it's what I know and I'm too lazy/not bothered about OS' to learn anything new.
