Microsoft Surface on sale at midnight on October 26

Microsoft Surface on sale at midnight on October 26Earlier this morning, I was saying that Microsoft has confirmed dates for a pair of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 launch party type things.

The Windows 8 event will have a special guest in the form of the Microsoft Surface, and we’re hearing that it’ll go on sale soon afterwards.

How soon afterwards? Well, the Windows 8 event takes place from 10am till 3pm on October 25, and according to The Verge, the Microsoft Surface will go on sale at midnight.

The midnight sales will begin across a series of Microsoft pop-up stores, with regular stores selling the tablet from October 26.

It’ll be the ARM-based Windows 8 RT Microsoft Surface landing first, as opposed to the Intel-fuelled Microsoft Surface Pro. It’ll follow in a few months. Ish.

In either case, Microsoft Surface price remains an absolute mystery, with everything from $199 to four digits being touted as possibilities, alongside the idea of some sort of subscription.

Microsoft is also tipped to launch a Surface smartphone in early 2013. And we've already heard rumours of a Microsoft Surface 2. Phew. Let’s deal with this October stuff first, eh?

I recon microsoft will just hit the same price point as Apple since in their own mind they are bringing out a better rival to the iPad, I would be massively surprised if they go in at £200 or the like.

Mobot.net should instigate a betting service (fake money of course) just to see who is good at predicting these things
