Microsoft now throwing in a free cover with Surface RT tablet sales

Microsoft now throwing in a free cover with Surface RT tablet salesMicrosoft has sweetened the deal for potential Surface RT buyers by including a free Touch or Type Cover in the tablet's price for a limited time.

It represents quite a saving, too: the Touch Cover normally goes for £99 if bought separately, with the Type Cover coming with a physical keyboard for an extra £10.

Microsoft is offering the deal until the end of June, and it certainly boosts the Surface RT's appeal – and not just for the financial saving involved either.

Given how heavily the Covers were pushed in Microsoft's marketing campaign when the Surface first launched, the decision not to include one as part of the basic package wasn't a popular one, even if it did mean a lower headline price.

Sadly the offer only applies to the Surface RT and not to the pricier Surface Pro, which runs Windows 8. If you do decide to go for the more premium model, you will at least score a £20 discount on the £79.99 price of a year's subscription to Office 365 Home Premium.

MS are certainly trying hard with the marketing for the Windows Surface tablets, was made aware of this site today

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/compare#t1=microsoft-surface-rt

Its a little bit of a lame duck site however as it carefully skirts over the main difference between the two which is the app store. Well, that and the fact that theres also extremely capable Android tablets if cost is your main concern
