No i dont think so... the ipad 2 has no connections except for the battery... you may be able to tether by wireless though..

Yep, as already said: only a MiFi type wireless wifi modem will do.
The Acer Iconia A500 Android tab with its full USB port can be tweaked to take a USB modem; not the iPad.

but tbf i wouldnt get an acer tab... their laptops have enough issues when stationary so gawd knows what that tablet will be like trying to survive modern life...

Thing is that the USB modem function is not exactly straightforward. If you aren't confident with the commandline/terminal, don't even consider it.

as with most things. best bet is to go for a 3g enabled one if you are looking to buy. if you can afford a 3g one tough...
