Does a mobile charger use electricity even when it's not charging your phone?

Does a mobile charger use electricity even when it's not charging your phone? I tend to leave my charger plugged in at the wall 24/7 - is that bad? :|

Yes. There's - amongst other ingredients - a transformer inside the charger. It uses minute amounts of electricity, even when not plugged into the phone... It won't break your bank, but Al Gore would call you a polar bear killer. I guess if a billion people do it it show's on god's metre...
