How many mobile networks are there in the UK, not including "virtual" ones like giffgaff?

There are 5, as Orange and T-Mobile still operate separately (at the moment). For example, my contract with T-Mobile has nothing to do with Orange, apart from being able to roam, free of charge, onto their network.
Also, an Orange SIM will still prioritise the Orange network and a T-Mobile SIM will still prioritise the T-Mobile network, to the point that they'll both prioritise their native 2G network over the alternative network's 3G network, even if it's available.
