Mobile phone operating systems

Been reading a lot about phones ahead of buying a new smartphone.
Are there any other operating systems other than iOS for the iPhone, Android and Windows Phone? What's the nerds choice? ;)

Blackberry 10... But I'd stay away. Not impressed after 3 weeks with a Z10.
The "nerds choice"? Hm... You'd hardly want to buy a new Nokia N9? It runs Maemo/MeeGo. Very tweakable, but, by today's standards, slow.

WP8 is currently pretty much un-tweakable. Secureboot prevents any 'rooting'. You live with what the app store has to offer. There isn't even a file explorer (beyond photos and songs).

If you buy an iPhone 5 now, it's probably on iOS 6.1.3 or 6.1.4 which means you cannot jailbreak (the buck stops at 6.1.2). I used an iPhone 5 with jailbreak for 2 or 3 weeks earlier this year and was quite happy with it. But without jailbreak? No way.

Leaves Android...

The geeks choice has been Android for several years, long before Android became the mainstream OS it is today.
