As such, I set about playing Momonga Pinball Adventures, cursing as I went, but you know what? I had a lovely wee night; Momonga Pinball Adventures is freakin’ great.
As the name suggests, Momonga Pinball Adventures combines elements of – yes – pinball, and – right again – adventure.
Essentially, you’ve got nine levels to blast through, each with a little bit of Momonga Pinball Adventures story.
In a nutshell, Momo is a momonga (Japanese flying squirrel), and his village has been reduced to ash by some nasty owls, with his fellow momongas seemingly kidnapped.
Momo the momonga is rescued and trained by Panda the panda, with the former ultimately destined to go on a journey to rescue his brethren.
Momonga Pinball Adventures’ nine levels won’t take a great deal of time to blast through. I reckon 30 minutes or so would do it.
However, there’s excellent replay value in the form of Momonga Pinball Adventures’ challenges. See, each level has five associated challenges, such as collecting all stars in a given area, hitting/missing specific items, or finishing below a target time.
And that’s Momonga Pinball Adventures. As I said before, it’s freakin’ great, and you’re inevitably wondering why.
Well, for starters, the presentation – including the sound and graphics – is A1. Momonga Pinball Adventures looks awesome with its vibrant colour scheme, and it runs incredibly well despite Momo blasting around at fantastic speed.
The story is fun, too, and I even found myself laughing out loud at Fry the firefly. Throw in some decent pinball physics and cute tunes, and you’ve got a recipe for, uhm, awesomeness.
Oh, and Momonga Pinball Adventures also has an excellent bonus game called Panda’s Dream, which sees Panda floating through the sky eating doughnuts, cake and pizza. It alone is almost worth the price of admission (currently £1.49). Heck, I played it for so long that I found myself in the daily Top 10.
Yep, I loved Momonga Pinball Adventures. It might be a little cute for some, and it’s not exactly a hardcore pinball game (though there are some neat touches including cooperative puzzle-solving multi-ball), but it’s well worth checking out.

- Too cute?
- Too easy?
Summary: Momonga Pinball Adventures is an excellent pinball slash adventure game. If you don’t like it (you will like it), I’ll personally give you your £1.49 back (not really).
