What makes more money: iOS or Android?

Android has a larger market share but does it make more money than iOS?
Obviously a lot of Android phones are sold for little profit, so market share in that sense doesn't tell the whole tale.
And the App Store makes more than Google Play I believe.

Yeah, you're on to something. Unit for unit iOS rules in terms of profit generation.
Consider this: there are what, a dozen or so iDevices plus iPod Touch flavours. Versus 1000s of Android models. Thousands. Of which the majority are low-end (don't be distracted by the flagships everyone talks about)... I'd prefer Apple's 20% share.
Fewer devices to support, fewer updates to disseminate and fine-tune, etc etc
Google profit from ads. Their bundled apps. But for OEMs there isn't much. Not long ago someone estimated that Samsung reaps over 90% of all Android profits. A tiny slice left for hundreds of also-rans...
