Motorola asks us to save the date; what’s the Motorola Edge?

Motorola asks us to save the date; what’s the Motorola Edge? All eyes are turning to Berlin for the imminent launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 et al, but Motorola has reminded us that there’s life after IFA.

What the hell am I rambling on about? We’ve just been sent a save the date thingy for September 18 – just under three weeks’ time.

The invite reads only “Let us take you to the Edge.” Is there some sort of smartphone called the Motorola Edge in the works? Perhaps. Unfortunately all attempts to bribe the lovely PR girl, Laura, have failed.

Interestingly, the Motorola logo at the top is joined by none other than that of Intel. Hmm, maybe the Motorola Edge is an Intel-fuelled smartphone.

If you cast your filthy minds back to CES in January, Motorola and Intel announced that they’d entered a “multi-year, multi-device strategic relationship”.

However, we haven’t heard a peep from the pair since February, when they reiterated their commitment to each other. Bless.

Yeah, so, the Motorola Edge event gets underway at 10am. We’ll probably still be in bed (separate beds, I hasten to add), but we’ll bring you all the Motorola Edge news just as soon as we wake up.

In the meantime, you can take a peep at a press shot of what might very well be the Motorola Edge. Enjoy.

So what's the betting this is another standard slab android phone with the big selling point of a tiny bezel?

That's a bit optimistic...
