One of the unique features of the Motorola Atrix was its Lapdock accessory thingy, essentially allowing users to dock the smartphone and use it like a laptop of sorts.
However, somewhat surprisingly, the imminent Motorola Atrix HD won’t be compatible with the Lapdock, and won’t include Motorola’s WebTop software.
In an email to Phonescoop, the US manufacturer has explained that ultimately it was aiming to keep cost down. The Motorola Atrix HD will retail for $99 on AT&T.
“[We] focused on the features that will deliver the greatest value for this device’s target audience,” begins a Motorola spokesperson.
“Motorola Atrix HD was designed for people who get excited about new technology that is relevant to their lifestyle, but are also price conscious. So we’re offering the experiences and software that this target would be most interested in and still be able to make it affordable."
Bummer. Still, Motorola’s Lapdock didn’t exactly set the world on fire, so we don’t imagine consumers will be too fussed.
