Motorola Atrix HD Developer Edition accounced

Motorola Atrix HD Developer Edition accouncedUnlockable bootloaders aren’t a huge deal for most, but for a select few tinkerers the lack thereof is a freakin’ deal-breaker.

With this in mind, Motorola has announced the Atrix HD Developer Edition, complete with unlockable bootloader.

Otherwise, the Motorola Atrix HD Developer Edition offers identical specs to the original Motorola Atrix HD (not to be confused with the Motorola Razr HD).

That means you’re looking at a 4.5in display, dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, 1GB of RAM, and an 8MP rear camera.

The difference being that the Atrix HD Developer Edition offers what Motorola describes as “the infinite customization possibilities offered by an unlockable bootloader”. Good times.

As Moto warns: “You should only unlock the bootloader if you’re comfortable with the process and know exactly what you’re doing, since you will be voiding the warranty and risking data and functionality loss.”

We expect the Motorola Atrix HD Developer Edition to sell approximately five units in the states, while we’ll almost certainly get the cold shoulder. Is anyone bothered? Probably not.

Ah the atrix, I'm assuming this new generation doesn't come with the keyboard dock? Was always an interesting idea that didn't quite do enough to make it work IMO
