Motorola makes Fire official

Motorola makes Fire officialThe Motorola Fire looks hot, but this "budget-friendly" smartphone won’t burn a hole in your wallet, haha! Get it? It’s called the Motorola Fire, so it’s… hot? Sorry. No more “jokes”. Promise.

Aye, so, the Motorola Fire has been sitting at the bottom of Motorola’s UK site (alongside the Motorola Pro, incidentally) for a wee while now, but Moto has made it all official like with a press release straight out of Basingstoke. Seriously.

“We are excited about extending our growing smartphone range in UK, and Motorola FIRE opens up new possibilities in the smartphone market. The device’s stylish design and its exciting and versatile social media applications will wow younger, tech-loving users in particular,” said Victoria (can I call you Vicki?) McManus, UK marketing director, Motorola Mobility EMEA.

The Motorola Fire runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and has a QWERTY keyboard, 2.8in touchscreen, 3MP camera, FM radio and 1420mAh battery.

The press release doesn’t give an indication of the Motorola Fire’s release date or price, however Clove reckons its first stock is due “late September” with a £216 price tag.

Here’s a silly Motorola Fire YouTube video should ye fancy it.

Yeah I think I will give it a punt towards the end of the year. Going to ditch the Nokia E5/E6 phones by then.
