MWC 2015: iPhone 6 and LG G3 share top prize at annual Global Mobile Awards

We love a good, uhm, award thingy here on Mobot, and indeed we’ll inevitably put together some sort of Best of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 feature fairly soonish.

In the meantime, let’s turn our attention to Barcelona, and the 20th annual Global Mobile Awards – essentially the Oscars for mobile nerds.

Motorola Moto E 2015 vs. Moto E 2014: eight ways the new guy excels

Yesterday I took an in-depth look at the Motorola Moto E 2015 vs. Motorola Moto G 4G LTE, concluding (*spoiler alert*) that – since the phones are remarkably similar – it’s very much a case of battery life vs. HD resolution and rear camera flash.

Here I’m studying the Motorola Moto E 2015 vs. Moto E 2014. With the first-gen Moto E recently popping up for just £30 at Asda, is it worth paying £109 for the Moto E 2015?

Motorola Moto E 2015 vs. Motorola Moto G 4G LTE

Last night saw the Motorola Moto E 2015 launch, and in the linked article I predictably compared the phone to the first-gen Moto E (the new one is loads better); and also the Motorola Moto G 4G LTE, since the Moto E 2015 will be priced similarly.

Here I’m taking a bit more time to focus on the Motorola Moto E 2015 vs. Motorola Moto G 4G LTE, asking: which is the better buy if you have a spare £109 lying around?

New Motorola Moto E: quad-core CPU, front camera, bigger screen, bigger battery

What are we calling this thing? The new Motorola Moto E? The Motorola Moto E 2? The second-gen Motorola Moto E? The Motorola Moto E 2015? The Motorola Moto E LTE? All of these and more, no doubt.

In any case, it’s finally here! Meet the successor to 2014’s hugely popular entry-level Motorola Moto E, with minor – but much appreciated – tweaks across the board.

Motorola explains why Android Lollipop updates are taking ages

Motorola explains why Android Lollipop updates are taking ages

Lewis Curdie  Jan. 31, 2015 at 19:00

The Android Lollipop 5.0 update is just trickling out at the moment, and indeed the most recent figures from Android Developers (from a few weeks ago, right enough) put Lollipop at less than 0.1% distribution. To put it another way, less than 1 in 1,000 Android devices is rocking Lollipop.

We heard earlier that HTC will miss its self-imposed 90-day Android Lollipop update deadline, and here Motorola is the latest manufacturer to explain why it’s taking so freaking long.

KitKat Android 4.4.3 update rolling out to Moto G, Moto E, Moto X from this week

KitKat Android 4.4.3 update rolling out to Moto G, Moto E, Moto X from this week

Lewis Curdie  Jun. 4, 2014 at 16:00

Motorola has seemingly hit a sweet spot with its value-for-money thing, offering decent specs and a near-stock Android experience for prices that won’t break the bank. Well, y’know, so long as you have a spare £100 lying around.

Better still, the relatively unspoiled Androidness means speedy software updates, and as such the wallet-friendly Moto G and Moto E – alongside the slightly pricier Moto X – are set to get the KitKat Android 4.4.3 update from this week.

Samsung's potential answer to the Moto E spotted again

The Moto G has been a hands-down success, and Motorola could well have another winner in the even-cheaper Moto E.

That being the case, you'd expect Samsung – the world's leading smartphone seller, let's not forget – to have some kind of response, and it could well be coming in the form of the SM-G350E.

Motorola Moto E beats Samsung Galaxy S5 in performance test

Much to our surprise, Motorola is really shaking things up at the lower end of the smartphone scale, with the perfectly capable £100 Moto G leading many to question if it’s worth paying five times as much for a flagship-level device.

The Motorola Moto E is cheaper still, and incredibly it actually outperforms the Samsung Galaxy S5 in some respects, as evidenced in a video-based test.

Motorola plays the budget card again with the £89 Moto E

Martin James  May. 13, 2014 at 10:41

Motorola has rolled out its next low-cost smartphone for the masses, the £89 Moto E.

Launched alongside a 4G version of the already attractively priced Moto G, the Moto E raises the affordability bar still higher by dipping under the £100 mark while still offering decent hardware quality and the promise of speedy updates to the next version of Android whenever Google rolls it out.
