Motorola Moto X and Moto G seemingly earmarked for Android L

Motorola Moto X and Moto G seemingly earmarked for Android LWith the release of each new version of Android comes the inevitable question: “When will my device be updated?” Or, more simply: “Will my device be updated?”

The answer to the latter question, for users of the Motorola Moto X and Moto G, appears to be yes. Yes, they’ll be updated to Android L when it arrives later in the year.

Credit goes to Motorola customer rep Kristina, who suddenly finds her name plastered over pretty much every mobile blog under the sun.

In a conversation with John Doe (shame on you Mr and Mrs Doe, calling your son "John"), Kristina reveals that both the Motorola Moto X and Moto G will be updated to Android L. “Yes”, she purrs. “Once it is available.”

Of course, it’s not at all clear whether Kristina knows something the rest of the non-Motorola world doesn’t, having been informed – directly or otherwise – by the manufacturer’s top brass, or if – this is the more likely scenario – she simply reckons it’ll happen despite the lack of any official information for now.

To be fair, we’d be surprised if the Motorola Moto X and Moto G weren’t updated to Android L, the pair running near-stock Android KitKat at present.

As for the Motorola Moto E, Kristina says: “we do not have any information as of today.” Which doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t get Android L, but – at the same time – don’t hold your breath. Just in case.
