To date, we’ve had the Motorola Razr (former “world’s thinnest smartphone”) and the Motorola Razr Maxx (essentially packing a bigger battery).
Now we’re hearing that not one but two new Razrs are on the cards for October, namely the Motorola Razr HD and Motorola Razr Maxx HD.
That’s the good word according to Hot Hardware, and “a very reliable source, deep in the trenches of the mobile battle ground”.
We’ve been hearing about the Motorola Razr HD for a while now, though it remains very much unofficial. Motorola Razr HD specs are tipped to include a 720 x 1280 display (no one’s quite sure of the size just yet), 13MP rear camera, and a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz.
A recent Motorola Razr HD leak showed the smartphone rocking Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.4), though Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) is a possibility come launch.
As for the Motorola Razr Maxx HD, it’s expected to be much the same smartphone, complete with Kevlar, ‘cept with a chunkier battery and hence a chubbier body.
The proposed October launch is said to be dependent on Motorola shifting enough units of the original Motorola Razr and Razr Maxx. Failing that, the Motorola Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD might be shoved back.
I’m meeting Christy Wyatt for dinner later on, so I’ll see what I can find out…
