Everyone’s favourite crazy Russian, Eldar Murtazin, gets a lot of stuff wrong. Recent(ish) favourites include the sale of Nokia’s mobile division to Microsoft by close of 2011, and the Samsung Galaxy S III supposedly arriving just months after the Galaxy S II. Amazing.
But, to be fair, he occasionally gets it right, and as such we’re duty bound to report his suggestion that the Samsung Galaxy S III is set to get a refresh.
That’s the good word from Eldar via his twitter account, with a tweet (ropily translated) reading: “But you can also tell you about the update SGS3, this is not about SGS4 story? in a word - the screen (yes), the wireless charging, 2400 mAh.”
Murtazin doesn’t elaborate on how the Samsung Galaxy S III’s display might be enhanced, but we’re thinking that a non-Pentile HD Super AMOLED Plus variant would go down a treat.
As for the battery, the Samsung Galaxy S III currently ships with a 2,100mAh juice unit, so 2,400mAh would mark a 14% boost.
Finally, wireless charging was supposed to come to the original Samsung Galaxy S III via a replacement case, but failed to materialise. The release of a spanking new device will do little to appease S III owners hungry for charging sans wires.
When can we expect the new Samsung Galaxy S III? Well, in response to a tweet suggesting that a Samsung Galaxy S III refresh might distract from the Samsung Galaxy S IV launch, Eldar growls: “not announce it now”.
We reckon Sammo will want to leave a good month or so between the Samsung Galaxy S IV launch and Samsung Galaxy S III relaunch. Y'know, if the latter actually exists.
