LG certainly has been busy so far in 2013, and has been showing off new fewer than six new smartphones at Mobile World Congress this week.
Impressive stuff, or at least it is until you take a closer look, as LG has admitted we won't be seeing the company's latest and greatest here in the UK since our 4G infrastructure isn't developed enough yet.
LG's product manager for the UK, Shaun Musgrave, said as much to TechRadar on the MWC show floor, confirming the likes of the LG Optimus G Pro, Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 wouldn't be arriving on local shores until the UK's LTE network is better established.
“4G is immature in the UK and it won't start to pick up until the second half of this year,” Musgrave is quoted as saying.
His comments make sense considering LG has only just officially launched the previous-generation Optimus G in the UK, a handset that will clearly now have a fair bit of time leading the LG line while the company waits for 4G to pick up.
With any luck, then, we can at least look forward to the Optimus G2 and some of LG's other MWC handsets arriving at some point this year. It just won't be anytime soon.
