Earlier today I was rambling on about the spanking new LG Optimus G Pro, officially destined for Japan’s NTT Docomo but probably unlikely to make it to these shores.
We have another smartphone chap in much the same boat, namely the NEC Medias W, worth a mention as it has not one but two 4.3in displays.
To be fair, it’s not the first time we’ve seen dual display action in the world of Android, with the Sony Tablet P immediately springing to mind.
The NEC Medias W’s displays can be used independently, perhaps with a browser on one side while you go about your typical smartphone business on the other.
Or, the two 4.3in displays can join forces to make one roughly 5.6in display. However, while Google Maps and the browser will play ball without fuss, not all apps are happy with the set-up, some preferring instead to stick with one display.
Other NEC Medias W specs include a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, and 16GB internal storage (with microSD).
Not exactly jaw-dropping specs, then, and early reports suggest – unsurprisingly – that the NEC Medias W struggles on occasion.
Still, we’ll be hoping to meet the NEC Medias W at Mobile World Congress in five weeks’ time.
