It's been more than a month since we last heard some fresh gossip about the second-generation Nexus 7 tablet that's supposedly on the way over the summer.
But fear not: it's just popped up on the rumour mill again, and in the company of some fairly impressive looking credentials.
Once again we're hearing the display will be a 7in panel with a 1,980 x 1,200 resolution, the processor is Qualcomm's handy Snapdragon 600, you get 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, with 5MP/1.2MP camera, a 4G radio and a big 4,000mAh battery. Oh, and Android 4.3.
Sounds good, right? Well, it might be worth keeping your excitement in check, as the source of the leak may not be 100% water-tight, as it were.
The specs were seemingly delivered by a member of Asus' support team via a live chat session, who handed over the full list of specs after just a couple of short exchanges. Let's hope whoever it was is never trusted with any national secrets.
And to really put the dot underneath the big question mark surrounding all this, the unnamed Asus techie revealed the upgraded Nexus 7 would arrive before the end of Q2 – “that will be before the ending of July”. Not quite confidence-inspiring.
