The new Lumia 925 introduces some new camera software features to the top end of Nokia's Windows Phone line-up, but the rest of the Lumia range will be getting the same features in due course too.
The Smart Camera enhancements will be part of an update codenamed Amber which Nokia will be rolling out to its other Lumia handsets sometime in Q3.
Specifically, the Lumia 920, 928, 820, 720, 620 and 520 will all have an amber-coloured update heading their way, with Nokia Smart Camera the chief improvement included.
Demoed this morning at the Lumia 925 launch in London, Smart Camera takes a burst of 10 shots over 2.5 seconds and gives you several creative editing options combining various elements of the images together.
For ordinary shooting, the software itself will select Best Shot – though you can go through the other images yourself if you're not happy – and you can also combine action from different shots in a single frame (Action Shot) or apply motion blur to the background of an image while keeping the subject in perfect focus (Motion Focus).
The Amber update will also activate the FM radio which is present (but can't currently be used) on board the aforementioned Windows Phone 8 Lumias with the exception of the Lumia 620.
Those are the two main Amber components Nokia chose to highlight at the Lumia 925, but it promises to reveal more details about what else is in store for the Lumia range closer to the update's rollout.
