A new Nokia concept phone has been revealed, with a rather interesting twist. When you receive a call, or when the alarm goes off, the phone stands up from a lying down position.
The concept phone, called the Nokia Kinetic, has a moveable weight in the bottom, with an electromagnet that effectively makes the phone stand up when you receive an alert. You can dismiss the call or alarm with a tap, and the Kinetic goes back to lying down.
The Nokia Kinetic was designed by Jeremy Innes-Hopkins at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, and overseen by tutor Silas Grant, former Senior Designer at Nokia.
Jeremy describes the phone as “a magical mobile that makes receiving a call, text, email or alarm more playful by converting digital information into kinetic movement.”
