Nokia confirms more Windows Phones are on the way

Nokia confirms more Windows Phones are on the wayIt's not exactly earth-shattering news, but Nokia has confirmed it will be adding to its Windows Phone lineup in the first half of next year.

The company's brave new era dawned with the arrival of the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 last month, and while we were never in any doubt that more Lumia handsets were on the way, it's still nice to get confirmation that we won't be kept waiting too long.

The news comes from Nokia Taiwan general manager Michael Hsu, and while he didn't go into any specifics he implied that the new arrivals will expand the Lumia range's appeal to a wider target market.

That fits in with the “BMW theory” we reported on last week, which suggested a high-end Lumia handset would be next to land, while this week we also heard rumours of a more entry-level Nokia 601.

With any luck Nokia will show its hand at Mobile World Congress in February and give us a sneak preview of what the new faces have to offer.
