How do I get my Nokia E5-00 to ring and vibrate for texts?

My Nokia E5-00 isn’t on silent, but it doesn’t ring or vibrate when I get a text. What’s going on?! It makes sound and vibrates for calls and emails.

Ok Guys, I had this problem and I know what to do
1. Delete your texts below 1500
2. Ctrl Panel > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby Mode > Home screen theme.
3. Change the home screen theme
4. Reset your device
5. You can change your home creen theme back to what it was, but your texts should now work

Try this:
Menu >>> Settings >>> Profiles >>> General >>> Options >>> Message alert tone >>> Change >>> Choose a tune >>> Select >>> Scroll down to vibrating alert and change it to on if it is already off

Tha's right! :)

To quickly set your E5 to 'silent' just press and hold the bottom right Ctr key (if you squint, you see a music note on the key)

Lauren, go to settings, profiles. Higlight General, click Menu - 'edit'. Scroll to 'new message' and pick an alert tone (my message alert was on 'none' when I got my C7...could be the same with your Nokia E5)

I had already deleted all msgs and still had the problem. After changing my display to basic, I powered off the phone, as someone here suggested. After 10 seconds, I powered up the phone, reset my display to "active" and sent a test text to my phone. It works!
I don't know if one needs to both delete messages and reset the display, but I followed those two suggestions and it is now alerting and vibrating when a text is received.
