How do I get my Nokia e5's headset volume loud?

When I connect the headset to my nokia e5, the volume is very low, although it's maximised from the side volume buttons. If I press the headset button, the volume increases but only as long as the button is pressed and then it goes back to low. How can I fix this problem?

dude, I had the same problem, the situation is that even though nokia uses regular 3.5mm entry, the rings doesn't fit as they would fit on a laptop so try to insert them half-way and you will find a spot where your sound increases. Hope this helps you.

You are talking about the volume control on the earphones set, yes? That only works within the range of the device volume. If your sound is too low on the device, the volume rocker on the earphones can't do anything about that.
So, check the volume/sound settings on the E5 and crank it up. The earphones cannot override the current max - except temporarily for a voicecall.

If I misunderstood, please repost your question. Also: which E5 (qwerty or 3x4) and which firmware?

Oh, also: the bundled set is pretty rubbish, anyways. 3rd party offerings are much louder. Except for highend devices, Nokia ship the bare necessity gear only. Try and find the earphones/hands-free that ship with an N900 or N95 2nd-hand...
