Nokia Glory: 4in display with Windows Phone 7.8?

Nokia Glory: 4in display with Windows Phone 7.8?There was bad news for Windows Phone 7.5 owners when it materialised that they won’t be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 (Apollo). Instead, they’ll get single-core-friendly Windows Phone 7.8.

However, Nokia still has some love for the lower end of the scale, as evidenced by the rumoured Nokia “Glory”.

The Glory, as it’s codenamed, has been leaked to the ladies and gents at The Verge – through the medium of words. That is to say: there ain’t no pictures at this early stage.

It’s summed up as a successor of sorts to the Nokia Lumia 610. Nokia Glory specs are tipped to include Windows Phone 7.8, 256MB of RAM, and an 800MHz processor. The only other Nokia Glory spec we have to go on is a 4in display.

Semi-interesting fact: the Nokia Lumia 610, Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 all have 3.7in displays. The Nokia Lumia 900, meanwhile, weighs in at 4.3in.

Nokia World gets underway on Wednesday, but it sounds like it’s a bit early for the Nokia Glory to appear. Instead, expect a Nokia Lumia 820 and Lumia 920. Possibly.

Baffling idea to put that on sale.
Here's our new wp8 phones, isn't wp8 lovely, oh and here some spare parts we had kicking around that aren't good enough to run it and we'll chuck in the out of date wp7 buy it! Please, we'll throw in a display slightly bigger than the old one, pretty please.

Will see... 4inch screen would suggest they either didn't just use old spar-parts or they cannibalised the N9/Lumia 800 workshop... That'd p*ss off a lot*** of folks who paid £350+ for a Lumia 800 not long ago... (***"lot" being relative)

That was the throw in a display slightly bigger than the old one part ;)

If it does get a release does it mean no budget wp8 phones (until the prices slide down)

Honestly, I think WP8 shows promise (though I thought that, pre-release, about WP7, too). Hopefully they'll stop making f*cking ridiculous business decisions this time 'round. Lets also hope that the WP8 hardware doesn't stay almost identical for 2 years...

Yes, WP8 could be okay. Provided they let me give the homescreen a more subtle appearance, I could live with it. And yes, another bunch of N9 clones won't persuade too many people, and the 710/610 just looked like discarded C7 prototypes.
I love the feel of the N9, but if I want another one, I'll get a 64GB one :p Not a clone

You seem to be trying to talk yourself out of it already...

I agree with matt101101 I also think it shows promise, esepcially if its tied in as closely with Windows 8 and xbox as has been suggested, mind you there was lots of chat about how closely intigrated WP7 and Xbox was going to be and that was pretty pap as it turned out

Have recently tried android again and its still not for me, so im hoping WP8 may tempt me away from iOS.

Same here... to me Android went from promising newbie OS to Brew v2.0! I see little difference between the PLAYSTORE and getjar ca. 2007.
No polish can persuade me otherwise. I'll check back in 2 years :p
