With Mobile World Congress less than a month away now, Nokia-related rumours are building up nicely, and today we have a trio of potential new Lumia smartphones to mull over.
Chief among them is the Lumia 1000, a name that was spotted on a China Mobile registration page, and which is being suggested as the final launch title of the Nokia EOS PureView phone we've been hearing about lately.
The EOS is set to feature the same 41-megapixel oversampling image sensor found in last year's Nokia 808 PureView, but of course running Windows Phone rather than the 808's Symbian.
So far the rumours have suggested MWC might be a little soon for the EOS to show its face, but if the Lumia 1000 spotted on the China Mobile system is indeed the same handset as many are suggesting, then maybe it is headed for a Barcelona unveiling after all.
Alternatively, it could simply be a new flagship Windows Phone (based on the Lumia numbering system so far) and have nothing to do with PureView at all. Your guess is as good as ours at this point.
Heading south from China, meanwhile, we have another pair of Lumia devices that have popped up on Indonesia's Postel registration database: the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520.
This one seems a little easier to decipher given that we already have a Lumia 620, Lumia 820 and Lumia 920. The pair would effectively be Windows Phone 8 replacements for the Windows Phone 7.x-based Lumia 710 and Lumia 510, which are getting pretty long in the tooth now.
The listing gives no other details at all, so we'll just have to be content with names for the time being. Still, the potential for new Lumia devices at the bottom, middle and top of the range sounds like just the thing to beef up Nokia's Windows Phone 8 collection over the months to come.
UPDATE: whoa, hold the phone. No sooner are we finished writing the words when along come some details after all. An anonymous tipster has furnished MyNokiaBlog with the following claims:
"The Lumia 720 codenamed Zeal and Lumia 520 codenamed Fame is definitely a confirmed WP 8 devices. Lumia 720 will have 4.3″ CBD, 1Ghz Dual-core, 512Mb RAM, 8GB storage, HSPA+, WP8, microSD, 6MP camera and 2MP front camera.
"The Lumia 520 will have 4″ Super Sensitive screen, 1Ghz Dual-core, 512Mb RAM, 8GB storage, microSD, WP8, 5MP with no front camera."
There you have it.
