Fancy a bit of Nokia Lumia 1020 action? Things have gone a bit quiet on the PureView camera phone since its big announcement last month, but Expansys has finally given us both a SIM-free price and release date here in the UK.
As for the date, September 5 is what you should be circling on your calendar, but we'd advise doing so in pencil. While early screenshots of the pre-order page for the Lumia 1020 clearly showed the release date as being Thursday, September 5, that information has been removed from Expansys' site and now there's no date mentioned at all.
Another site, UnlockedMobiles, has quoted a September on-sale date, but doesn't get any more specific than that. It does list a lower £549 price, however, and in all three colours too, so make of that what you will.
The Lumia 1020 comes with a 4.5in AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
The camera is the hero of course, with a 2/3in sensor capable of 41MP image capture via six lens elements.
Thanks to the high pixel count and the PureView oversampling image technology, you get an effective 3x lossless zoom, and it's partnered by Nokia's impressive Smart Pro Camera software, which gives you advanced shooting features such as manual focus.
So September it is, maybe the 5th but maybe not, and an unlocked price of £550 to £600. Expect firmer details to emerge over the next couple of weeks.
