Nokia Lumia 1520 available on December 6, will cost from £38 per month

Remember the Nokia Lumia 1520? You know – massive screen, first Windows Phone phablet, launched ages ago?

OK, it's only a few weeks but it feels like ages, mainly because Nokia hasn't revealed an on sale date for the Lumia 1520 yet – until now, that is.

The 6in Windows Phone 8.1 handset is set to go on sale next Friday, December 6, and will be available on launch day from Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone (who started taking pre-orders a week ago), as well as Phones4U, O2 and independent retailers, Nokia says.

The Lumia 1520 has been priced at £599 SIM-free, while you'll be able to get it on contract from Vodafone starting at £38 per month provided you're willing to shell out £80 up front.

That will give you unlimited minutes and texts as well as 6GB of data per month. If you really don't want to fork out the £80 you can get it free but you'll have to make do with just 2GB. Or you can double that and still avoid an up-front charge, but it'll set you back £47 rather than £38 a month.

The Lumia 1520 is the first quad-core, full HD Windows Phone to hit the market, and brings with it a 6in display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 20MP PureView camera and 2GB of RAM.

I'm very tempted, too. But the size???? I find the 925 borderline. Otherwise it'd be my main device.

Camera? Yes. The rest? No... But the thing is, I find the 1020 and 925 both a tad too big for my kinda use. Having said that, though the 1020 has the better camera, the 1520 has the processor to power such a cam efficiently. (the 1020 has some lag when taking images etc)

Im deciding between either, being an Iphone guy for years I fancy a change... :)

I hate M$, and I tried earlier WP devices that didn't impress me.
Now I have a 'trial' Lumia 925, and I quite like it. I'm closer to iOS than to Android, but I really can't decide on what to replace my ageing Nokia N9 with. My wait for any Xmas offers and go for either a 1020 or an iPhone 5S - unless the Jolla Phone or the Yota become available in my realm.
