Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet arrives in the UK early, joins Lumia 2520

Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet arrives in the UK early, joins Lumia 2520Good news for phablet-loving Windows Phone fans: Nokia's debut phablet, the Lumia 1520, has arrived in the UK earlier than expected.

The Lumia 1520 was initially expected to go on sale tomorrow, but early is good at this time of year, with the Windows Phone 6-incher likely to prove a popular choice for gadget hunters this Christmas.

Nokia's first smartphone to break the 5in screen size barrier launched at Nokia World back in October – it seems like an age ago now – and comes packing not only a full HD display, but a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and a 20MP PureView camera too.

We initially revealed a couple of weeks ago that the Lumia 1520 would arrive at Carphone Warehouse tomorrow, December 6, and would come free on contracts starting at £38pm.

We got the date wrong in the end, but all the other details were accurate, so if you head over there now you can have yours delivered free of charge before close of play tomorrow (UK only, obviously).

Also now available in the UK is the Lumia 2520 tablet, which Nokia also unveiled at Nokia World in October.

The Lumia 2520 has the same quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and full HD display resolution as the Lumia 1520 (though obviously on a much bigger screen – 10.1in across to be precise), and also features a 6.7MP camera with Zeiss optics, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of memory and – lest you forget – Windows RT 8.1.

It'll set you back a few pennies shy of £399.95, but as of now is only available from John Lewis.

First phablet of interest. But I shall resist. Too big for everyday kinda things.

Too near to my Nexus 7 size wise, though that battery life looks very tempting.....
Now Nokia, same, but smaller please :)

Yeah... they crammed the original 41MP pureview into a 4-incher. Why oh why put a great camera into a huge unwieldy slippery slab?
