Nokia's Windows Phone 8 entry point just got a fair bit cheaper with news that the budget Lumia 620 is now officially available across the UK.
The colourful handset with the interchangeable covers will set you back around £215 SIM-free, around £150 on PAYG or free on a range of contracts from O2, Three and Virgin Mobile.
Earlier in the month Clove promised it would have the Lumia 620 in stock by January 28, which surprised us a bit at the time. But it turns out it wasn't far off the mark, although Clove's £226 asking price is trumped by Unlocked Mobiles' £215 figure.
So what do you get for your money? Maybe we've been spoilt by the budget Android brigade, but it's tempting to say not enough (and the Comments from the Clove piece suggest it's a popular opinion).
The Lumia 620 comes packing a 3.8in WVGA ClearBlack display, a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (plus a microSD card slot) and – naturally – Windows Phone 8.
Ah, but wait. The real magic, or so Nokia tells us, lies in the potential for endless fun swapping out the Lumia 620's interchangeable cover for a differently coloured one. Colour options are well illustrate in the pic above, though your choice of what you get in the box will depend on who you buy your Lumia 620 from.
O2, for instance, will stick with black only in the box, but is running a promotion where you get a second cover free of charge in yellow, orange, green, white or cyan. According to Nokia, covers will otherwise be sold individually for “less than £20” apiece.
