Nokia Lumia 710 starts global rollout

Nokia Lumia 710 starts global rolloutWell, there you have it. No sooner have we reported that Nokia's second Windows Phone – the Lumia 710 – is being lined up to go on sale in the first week of the new year than Nokia itself announces it's shipping as of today.

The only downside, for now at least anyway, is that you'll have to head out to Taiwan to get your hands on one now, with Nokia yet to confirm exactly when it'll be available closer to home.

In the run-up to the Lumia 710 being unveiled along with its big brother the Lumia 800 at Nokia World at the end of October, Nokia boss Stephen Elop said the devices would be rolled out country by country instead of touching down simultaneously around the globe.

So we shouldn't be too surprised to hear from Nokia that it's only Taiwan getting the handset for now, with Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Russia following in the next week, with the rest of us set to follow after that. So in the end a January 6 on sale date in the UK might not be too far from the truth – though that'll mean missing the run-up to Christmas.

Bah humbug...

Okay, 2011 list-maniacs: this is the most toppest phone launch of zero interest to me. And for that Nokia delayed the Symbian Belle update! Whoa...

elop doing what he does best i see.... bringing nokia to a complete stop...

right so instead of getting the cheaper (budget) nokia w7.5 phone onto the world wide market in time for the most important selling market of the year... they with-hold it until the quietest shopping period of the year...

everybody lets give elop a clap...

*dead slow mourning clapping*

Agree 100%

And releasing Belle in time for the X-mess would have added some new value to S^3 phones... But no, let's wait until all those Androids have ICS and quadcores...

How can anyone NOT see what a disaster Sou'wester been?
