Times change for Nokia, and operating systems definitely do, but there always seems to be a mythical new Nokia handset just around the corner worth getting really excited about.
A year ago it was the Nokia N9, only for its grand arrival to be spoiled by the decision to jump ship to Windows Phone. Confusingly, the N9 did in fact then arrive after all, but only in non-Windows Phone territories. So here we are, again, talking about the Nokia N9 – or to go by its newly Mango-ed moniker, the Nokia Lumia 900.
See the Nokia Lumia 900 is the Nokia N9 for the Windows Phone generation, the handset that is the answer to all the questions raised by those not wholly taken by the Nokia Lumia 800.
It has a 4.3-inch screen, we're told, as well as a front-facing camera, and is being lined up to make an appearance at Mobile World Congress in February.
Yet all this is old news to the mobile rumour-follower with an ear close to the ground. What's new, however, is a picture that was initially tagged as being of the Nokia 800 with a couple of new colour option, but looks more and more to actually be an early reveal of the Nokia Lumia 900.
The colours in question are yellow and white, for the record, but several observers have pointed out that the screen looks bigger than the Lumia 800's and there is clearly a front-facing camera tucked away in the top right hand corner.
For our money the Nokia Lumia 900 is a dead cert to show its face at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of February. All that's left to be decided, really, is just how close to the truth all these guesses we're making in the meantime really are.
