Way to rub it in, Nokia. We’re not allowed to play with the Nokia N9 in the UK, presumably because it’ll stop us saying: “Wow, look at the Nokia Lumia 800!”
But that hasn’t stopped the Finns using Nokia World in London – yes, London – to announce that the MeeGo-fuelled Nokia N9 will soon be available in virginal white. You sonsof…
White phones are all the rage, man. We’ve already got the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S II in white, and earlier this week we learned that the BlackBerry Bold Touch will soon be available in white too.
The Nokia N9 is available (in stupid select regions) in black, cyan and magenta. Why no white from Day 1? “The manufacturing process for beautiful white products is quite complex and we wanted to make sure we deliver the best possible quality for our consumers,” explains Frank Zillikens, head of product marketing for the N9.
Unlike those other colours, the Nokia N9 in white will have a glossy finish. It’ll debut in 64GB format in Q4. Put me down for one, you bast…ions.
Nokia also announced a Q4 software update for MeeGo, introducing music controls keys on the lock screen, the ability to close apps by swiping down, and NFC tag reading.
