The countdown is literally on over at the Swedish Nokia site, with a big clock counting down the days, hours, minutes and even seconds till the N9’s arrival.
There’s just under 49 days to go, which is seven weeks, so we’re looking at… Friday September 23. 10am BST, to be precise.
The Swedish site appears to be receiving the countdown treatment exclusively. There’s no such clock over at swipe.nokia.com.
There’s still some doubt concerning whether or not we’ll see the Nokia N9 in the UK. The 24-country availability checker doesn’t contain the UK, US, France, Germany, Spain or Italy.
The N9 is of course Nokia’s first – and will probably be the only – MeeGo-based smartphone. It launches at a strange time for Nokia, as sales and profits tumble, and Symbian slowly begins to suffocate.
Elop & Co have firmly backed Windows Phone 7 as their “primary smartphone platform”. The Mango-running Sea Ray, which looks uncannily like the N9, is expected later this year. Maybe.
