Is the Nokia N9 getting a Sailfish update??

A friend says I can expect a Jolla Sailfish update on my Nokia N9. Is this true?! :D

1) Jolla stated that themselves
2) Sailfish is based on the Mer/Nemo Project
The Mer/Nemo Project does not support the mentioned features in their code so Sailfish cannot.
https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Nemo/Status/Matrix

This includes not full support for calls, notifications, camera, NFC, proximity, GPRS, GPS, Bluetooth and I am sure other items.

Problem with these hardware related items is that the specifications have not been fully released by Nokia.

Nothing official from either Nokia (obviously) or Jolla (they won't support it)

No, as far as I remember there was a decisive 'nope' from Jolla, and Nokia obviously abandoned the N9. I'm sure the MeeGo 'community' will cobble together a port at some stage.

sailfish is open source. jolla only does builds for its own products. they have already released it to devs though so i am sure someone is working on a n9 build right now.

Agree... zero doubt. My N9 sure could use an update. Since PR1.3 it's getting slower and laggier by the day. Various people have reported the same. Despite reboots/resets/reflashes...

Note though, that the N9 will not be fully supported. Mainly GPS and proximity sensors will be missing
