No Nokia N9 for the UK?

No Nokia N9 for the UK?Worrying rumours are gathering pace on ye olde cyberweb, suggesting that the UK might be among several countries not to see the MeeGo-rocking Nokia N9. What the f…?

An availability checker on the European Nokia site doesn’t include an option for us in the UK. Indeed, there appears to be an N9 blackout for several hundred miles.

Victor Saegis, Nokia’s vice-president, recently announced that peeps in the UK would be among the first to get their hands on the Finns’ debut Windows Phone 7 device, codenamed Sea Ray.

Another four countries will join the UK for the us-first party, namely Italy, Germany, France and Spain. None of those countries appear on the availability checker.

The Sea Ray was “leaked” last week, right after the official N9 announcement. The two phones appear to be remarkably similar, and there are rumours that Nokia – or Elop at least – is keen to put MeeGo firmly in the past.

I can’t speak for everyone else, but if it’s a case of the N9 or the Nokia Sea Ray, I’ll take the N9 please.

Would be very surprised if it didnt! The UK is usually quite a strong market for Nokia

If Nokia won't release the N9 in the UK, it does seem that the UK will only get the Windows version. However the Windows version of the N9 perhaps should be called in honour of Mr Elop the Nokia Trojan?

Curious then that I've just pre-ordered one from a major UK supplier, and that I had a choice of UK suppliers who were prepared to take the order. :)

There's more misinformation on this product on the net than for anything in recent history. And.. much of that misinformation is coming from major sites who should know better. :( Included in that are the people at the Beeb who wear those blinkers with little bitten apples stamped on them!

Ooo where did you pre-order from? How much?
